Home Additions

More space without moving. Room additions, sunrooms, and home expansions — designed by Valerie, permitted and built by Rick.

Sometimes the right answer isn't a new house — it's adding on to the one you already love. Whether you need a primary suite addition, an expanded kitchen, a sunroom, or a larger garage, Rick has the general contractor credentials to manage the entire project and Valerie ensures the addition integrates seamlessly with the rest of your home, inside and out.

Common Addition Types

  • Primary bedroom suite additions
  • Kitchen expansions
  • Sunrooms and three-season rooms
  • Family room additions
  • Mudroom / laundry additions

How an Addition Comes Together

An addition is one of the more involved projects a home can take on, because it has to work structurally, work with your existing floor plan, and look like it was always part of the house. We start with design, not demo. Valerie works out how the new space connects to your existing rooms, how traffic will flow between old and new, and how the roofline, siding, trim, and windows should match so the addition reads as original construction rather than something bolted on.

Once the design is set, Rick takes over as your licensed Minnesota General Contractor (BC807593), handling the foundation, framing, and permitting. Additions almost always require tying into your home's existing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems — Rick manages the trade specialists who handle that work, coordinating their schedules so the project moves in the right order. You get one point of contact for the whole project instead of juggling a designer, a contractor, and a handful of subcontractors yourself.

Who a Home Addition Is For

An addition makes sense for homeowners who love their lot, their neighborhood, and their schools — they just need more room. Growing families who've outgrown a starter home, households adding a home office or multigenerational living space, and homeowners who want the primary suite or garage their current house never had are all common candidates. If moving would mean giving up something you don't want to give up, building out is often the better move.
